Permit & Parcel (oprasearch.app) helps New Jersey homeowners and pros look up public property information — permits, parcel data, flood/radon context, and OPRA contacts. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain English.
What this site is
A free tool that pulls together public New Jersey records and links so you don’t have to hunt across a dozen government sites. It was built to help people, not to sell personal data.
Permit & Parcel is an independent private tool. We organize public New Jersey information and make it easier to contact the right offices. We are not a government agency, do not provide legal advice, and do not sell access to non-public records. Official records always come from the state, county, or municipality.
Property lookups
When you search an address, we may log basic usage (what was searched, roughly when, device type) so the product stays reliable and we can see what’s broken. That is about the property search, not a profile of you.
We keep detailed search and usage logs (including the address searched) for about 180 days for reliability, abuse prevention, and product improvement, then delete them automatically. Before those details are removed, we keep anonymous daily totals (how many searches, which towns, device mix) so we can still learn what the product needs — without keeping street addresses forever. We use Firebase (Google) for hosting, authentication, and first-party product telemetry — not ad tracking networks.
OPRA requests you send through us
If you use our tool to email an OPRA request to a municipal clerk:
- The clerk receives your request (and PDF, when applicable) so they can respond to you.
- We keep a minimal record: your name, email, and the property address — so we know a request went out and can support the tool.
- We do not keep a copy of the OPRA PDF or the full request text in our database, and we do not BCC ourselves on the clerk email.
- We get a short internal notice that a request was sent (name + address) for ops — not a stored archive of your form.
OPRA send metadata (name, email, address) is kept for about 90 days for reliability and support, then deleted automatically.
Accounts (inspectors, realtors, and other pros)
If you create an account, we store the email and account details you provide so you can sign in and use pro features (like client links). Don’t put secrets in fields that aren’t meant for them.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- We don’t use OPRA request contents for advertising.
- We don’t pretend to be you when contacting a clerk — replies go to the email you enter.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information we store (including standard hosting and access controls). No online service is perfectly secure — if something looks wrong, email us.
Third parties
The site uses standard hosting and email delivery services (for example Firebase and our email provider) to run the product. Map, Street View, and solar-related views may use Google Maps Platform. Public data may come from state, county, and municipal systems. Those providers have their own practices.
